Departure from Philadelphia
Departure time!! Our group started out on our adventure at 1:00 pm Philadelphia time on May 23, 2012. Packing up a rented Tahoe with 15 bags of luggage (No we didnt pack plenty of clothes, 8 of the large check-in bags contained the numerous bottles of medication we will donate) and driving to JFK airport went smoothly. We departed JFK on our 22 hour journey to Singapore (with a short stop for fuel in Frankfurt Germany) at 8:35 PM. We finally arrived in Ho Chi Minh City some 26 hours later on May 25, 2012. First off Singapore Airlines is a Top-Class operation who basically fed us 6 meals and complimentary beverages the whole trip. (I highly recommend it) We then had to make our way through customs. Not only did we have no problem getting through security with all our bags, they were absolutely were thrilled at our objective and wished us much luck on our mission.
Vietnam is 11 hours ahead of East Coast Standard time, thus contacting our loved ones will be a timely challenge. Please be patient!
